War Memorial

In 1918, a memorial to the four hundred officers and men of the Salford Battalions of the Lancashire Fusiliers (known as ‘The Salford Pals’) who were killed at Thiepval France on the first of July 1916 was unveiled at the church. Their experiences have been documented in a book called ‘The Somme 1916’ by Michael Steadman. Also in the church are the recorded names of all ranks of the 15th 16th 19th and 20th Salford (Service) Battalions of The Lancashire Fusiliers who died in the great war 1914 – 18.
